Bethany Hamilton and her family will be heading to the Maldives August 8-14 for a week of leisure at the Four Seasons Maldives resort, while Hamilton and other professional surfers compete.
Other event participants include Shane Dorian, Taj Burrow, Rob Machado, Travis Logie and Jamie O’Brien, and local champion Hussain ‘Iboo’ Areef. The format is unique in many ways, the Champions Trophy determines a surfer’s heat time based on their age and tests skill across three different divisions: single-fin, twin-fin, and triple-fin thruster. Places are granted by invitation-only to just six world champions in a battle for inner-circle kudos and the USD 25,000 prize winnings.
“I’m so excited to have fun surfing with the boys in the Maldives’ pristine waves. It’ll be fun and interesting competing on twin and single fin boards. I’m looking forward to a cruise time with my family and enjoying our time in paradise,” says a stoked Hamilton.
Coined “The Most Luxurious Surfing Event”, Bethany and her family are sure to have an amazing time.
