Alex Ribeiro – The Interview
SB – Where did you grow up surfing? AR – I started surfing right in our neighborhood with my cousins when they spent summer break here (Praia Grande – Sau Paulo).
SB – Who taught you how to surf and why did you start competing? AR – I learned by myself! We had some contest among friends in our neighborhood, that was my first one. And when I was 12 years old I met my coach Neto Neves and we are still working together to this day.
SB – Who is your biggest influence in the water? AR – Mick Fanning.
SB – What is your favorite wave and why? AR – Indonesia. Macaronis and Greenbush, Mentawais. They are lefts and perfect!
SB – Best moment of your career so far? AR – When I won the 2015 Saquarema Pro, prime event in Rio.
SB – Goals for the future? AR – Establish myself on the World Tour and someday make a run for the World Title.
SB – What is your favorite meal? AR – Churrasco. Barbecue.
SB – Name one item you wouldn’t travel without. AR – My surfboard!
SB – Top bunk or bottom bunk? AR – Bottom bunk.
SB – Favorite smell? AR – Food.
SB – Anything else you would like the people to know about you? AR – I love to play soccer and tennis, and go to the movies. I have a 7 year old daughter (my little princess!!). I enjoy cooking, hanging out with my friends and traveling.
