Back to Team

Karlee Nurthen is just 19 years old, but already ranked as the 5th best Ironwoman in Australia and 11th best in the world.

Originally from Shelly Beach in NSW, she moved to Queensland on the Sunshine Coast to start training and competing in Ironman and Surf Life Saving events. She is currently a member of the Elite Michael King Ironman Academy training squad and the Mooloolaba Surf Club. Karlee has qualified to compete in the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Professional Ironman/woman Series (she will be the youngest female in this year’s series!) and also competes in Surf Life Saving at a state, national and elite level.

Karlee’s commitment to her sports and passion for competing make her an amazing fit here at Sticky Bumps. She truly is dedicated to life at the beach and trains for Surf Life Saving and Ironman events for over 20 hours per week. Her daily routine starts with a morning swim followed by a session at the gym. Later she paddles/surfs/ski’s or trains for Ironman events at the beach, followed by a running session.

Life as a professional athlete has also allowed Karlee to follow another passion, traveling with her sister, who also competes in Ironman events.
